Why buy a Japanese import over a British equivalent?

Normally, imported vehicles have a much higher specification, for example Air Conditioning (Climate Control), two-tone paint work, some have leather interiors, and the 4x4's have bull bars. They usually have a much lower mileage for the age of vehicle compared to British models. Some models were never brought to this country by the main dealers, and the vehicles are often a couple of years ahead of the equivalent British model in specification.

Can I get spares easily?

Spares for most models usually have an order & delivery date similar to British specification cars. We can get genuine and pattern parts for most models, we can also get spares direct from Japan.

Can I get Insurance for my Import?

Below are listed Insurance companies that cover imports - these are not speciality insurance companies for imports only, but they offer competitive quotes and understand the need to cover imports. It pays to shop around as no one company is always the cheapest.

* LIFESURE - 01480 474604 * OSBOURNE - 02083 886000 * NORWICH UNION DIRECT - 0800 0682674

* DIRECT LINE - 0845 2469041 * TETT HAMILTON - 01275 792270 *A PLAN - 0845 0711234

* TESCO - 0845 3004400 * ADRIAN FLUX - 08700 777 888 * THE INSURANCE LINE - 0800 7816755

Do I need an Immobiliser?

Some insurance companies may insist on an immobiliser, and some offer a discount if one is fitted, we can offer a CAT 2 immobiliser fitted by an electrician at £146.00 inc VAT. (This is a special price for vehicles purchased from our lot)

Why do our Japanese imports have an Island reg?

All of our own imported vehicles come direct from Japan and we personally deal with the Customs and registration forms, so that we are the first registered keeper to our vehicles. We always request a local registration plate for the Isle of Wight (which is the DL for vehicles more than a couple of years old).

What modifications are required to bring a Japanese Import up to British Specification?

We fit a rear fog light and change the speedo facia to read m.p.h instead of km.p.h. The odometer stays in the original kilometres (8000 km = 5000 miles, approx).

Are the tyres expensive for the 4x4's?

We can get all tyre sizes available. A couple of examples of the common tyres sizes for the 4x4's in a good budget make are:-

265/70/15 - £70.75 plus Vat = £83.13

215/15 - £45.87 plus Vat = £53.90
